What is Stake Mines?
Stake Mines is a provably fair casino game — a digital take on Minesweeper. You're shown a 5×5 grid of 25 tiles with a chosen number of hidden mines. Every safe tile you reveal bumps your multiplier; cash out before you hit a mine to keep your winnings. It was popularised by Stake.com and now runs on most crypto casinos (Duel.com, BC.Game and others), where it's one of the most popular "originals".
How to Play Stake Mines
- Set your bet. Choose your stake in your account currency (crypto or local).
- Pick the number of mines (1–24). Fewer mines = safer, small multipliers; more mines = riskier, bigger jumps.
- Reveal safe tiles. Click tiles one at a time — each safe reveal raises your multiplier.
- Cash out. Lock in your multiplier any time, or keep going for a larger payout and risk hitting a mine.

How Mines Works in Crypto Casinos
Mines is played on a 5×5 grid (25 tiles). A set number of mines are randomly placed, and you reveal tiles one by one. Each safe tile increases your multiplier. Cash out at any time, or hit a mine and lose your bet.
The Math Behind Mines
The multiplier is calculated based on the probability of avoiding all mines through your reveals:
Multiplier = (1 / probability) × 0.99
The 0.99 factor represents the 1% house edge. With more mines, each reveal is riskier, so multipliers grow faster.
Popular Strategies
Low Risk: 1-3 Mines, 3-5 Reveals
High win rate (~60-85%), low multipliers (1.1-1.9x). Good for steady grinding with small, consistent profits.
Medium Risk: 5 Mines, 4-6 Reveals
Balanced approach with ~30-50% win rate and 2-4x multipliers.
High Risk: 10+ Mines, 2-3 Reveals
Lower win rate but each successful reveal gives a big multiplier jump. High volatility gameplay.

Is Stake Mines Provably Fair?
Yes. On provably fair casinos, mine positions are committed with an HMAC-SHA256 hash before your round starts, so the outcome can't be changed once you begin clicking.
