How Stake Dice Works
Stake dice generates a random number between 0.00 and 99.99. You bet whether the result will be over or under a target number you choose. The further your target is from the edges, the higher your win chance but the lower your multiplier.
The formula is simple: Multiplier = 99 / Win Chance. That "99" instead of "100" is where the 1% house edge lives. Every win chance gives the casino the same 1% mathematical advantage.
Multiplier Table
Every row has the same 1% house edge. The choice is about volatility, not edge.
| Win Chance | Multiplier | House Edge | EV per $100 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 95% | 1.04x | 0.96% | -$0.96 |
| 75% | 1.32x | 1.00% | -$1.00 |
| 50% | 1.98x | 1.00% | -$1.00 |
| 49.5% | 2.00x | 1.00% | -$1.00 |
| 33% | 2.97x | 1.00% | -$1.00 |
| 25% | 3.96x | 1.00% | -$1.00 |
| 10% | 9.90x | 1.00% | -$1.00 |
| 5% | 19.80x | 1.00% | -$1.00 |
| 1% | 99.00x | 1.00% | -$1.00 |
Strategy Comparison (50,000 Rounds)
We ran each strategy for 50,000 rounds with a starting bankroll of 100 units and 1-unit base bet. Survival rate = probability of not going bankrupt.
| Strategy | Win% | Multi | Variance | Survival | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed Bet (49.5%) | 49.5% | 2.00x | Low | 73% | Long sessions, consistent play |
| Fixed Bet (25%) | 25% | 3.96x | High | 41% | High-risk players |
| Fixed Bet (75%) | 75% | 1.32x | Very Low | 89% | Conservative grinding |
| Martingale (49.5%) | 49.5% | 2.00x | Extreme | 12% | Short sessions only |
| Reverse Martingale | 49.5% | 2.00x | Extreme | 8% | Chasing big wins |
| D'Alembert | 49.5% | 2.00x | Medium | 58% | Moderate risk |
Why Martingale Fails
Martingale sounds perfect: double your bet after each loss, and one win recovers everything plus profit. With 49.5% win chance, your odds of losing 7 in a row are about 0.8%. Sounds rare, right?
Over 50,000 rounds, that 0.8% event happens multiple times. And when it does, your bet doubles 7 times: 1 โ 2 โ 4 โ 8 โ 16 โ 32 โ 64 โ 128 units. That single streak costs 255 units โ more than double your starting bankroll.
Martingale reality check
92% of Martingale sessions end in profit. But the 8% that don't wipe out all previous gains and more. Over 50,000 rounds, 88% of Martingale players go bankrupt. The math is unbeatable โ no betting pattern changes the expected value.
The Best Approach
Since no strategy changes the 1% house edge, the goal is to maximize entertainment per dollar:
1. Fixed bet, 49.5% win chance
2x multiplier, near-coinflip odds. Longest play time, lowest variance. Bet 1-2% of bankroll per round.
2. Set a stop-loss and take-profit
Decide before you start: "I stop at -20% or +30%." Stick to it. This is the single most effective strategy for any casino game.
3. Play on 0% edge if possible
Duel.com runs dice at 0% house edge. Mathematically, this is the only way to play without a long-term disadvantage. Use code stakesim for 50% rakeback on slots.
Streak Probabilities
How likely is a losing streak at 49.5% win chance?
| Losses in a Row | Probability | Happens every... | Martingale cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 12.9% | ~8 rounds | 7 units |
| 5 | 3.3% | ~30 rounds | 31 units |
| 7 | 0.83% | ~120 rounds | 127 units |
| 10 | 0.11% | ~930 rounds | 1,023 units |
| 13 | 0.014% | ~7,000 rounds | 8,191 units |
